Soul to Soil : Soil to Soul (2026)
Description
Artist: Morgan Overton
Size: 9x12" original
Medium: Watercolor, Graphite, Cyanotype, Gold Leaf
Soul to Soil, Soil to Soul considers the reciprocal relationship between Black life and the natural world. Drawing upon the histories of Black farmers, the work acknowledges land as a site shaped by both violence and possibility. While systems of enslavement and dispossession sought to sever Black people from autonomy through the land, the earth itself has remained a place of cultivation, memory, nourishment, and renewal. This work reimagines the offerings of the earth as an active participant in healing.
